All the wood I use is grown domestically. Wood from fruit trees like Cherry and Walnut are very pleasant to work with. Elm, through it's interlocking structure, is tough and ideal for making seats. With Elm you can hammer the legs in firmly without splitting the seat.

 

 

 

 

These 15 feet long Elm boards take about 3 years to dry.
